Enriqueta Brown

January 13, 1923 — April 4, 2023

ENRIQUETA A. BROWN (QUETA) was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico on January 13, 1923. She entered the gates of heaven on April 4, 2023 and was reunited with all her family who have gone before her. Queta married Edward N. Brown on June 29, 1946 and had a wonderful life together along with their daughter Gerry Brown-Encinias. Queta was a devoted wife, homemaker and an amazing mother. She was an excellent cook and an incredible baker. Over the years she collected a large library of cookbooks and many, many cut out recipes. Each Christmas, which was her favorite holiday, she proudly made her scrumptious fruit cakes, stuffed dates, biscochitos, fudge and Russian tea cookies while listening to Christmas music in the background. Mom would decorate her house with beautiful Christmas decorations. Her pride and joy were her 6.5-foot Christmas tree which dad would help her to decorate. Every present was wrapped with such perfection, uniqueness and with so much love. Mom's hobbies consisted of sewing clothes for her daughter when she was a little girl. She also loved to knit and cross stitch BEAUTIFUL pictures for friends and family. At one time, she designed and created her own beaded jewelry. In her past time Queta would complete crossword and word search puzzles along with reading her Better Homes and Garden magazines. She rarely missed her favorite daytime TV shows. Mom's love for her little 4-legged pets was so touching and heartwarming. That also included her 3 grand puppies. Mom had a deep devotion of faith in God and her Catholic upbringing. She was a member of the Catholic Church all her life. Mom was predeceased in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Edward N. Brown, her mother and father, Mariano and Sara Alvarez, three brothers, Mariano (Nito) Alvarez, Rudolfo (Rudy) Alvarez, Raymond (Ray) Alvarez, two sisters, Josephine (Fita) Lopez and Elisa (Licha) Ramirez. Queta is survived by her daughter Gerry Brown-Encinias, son-in-law Ancelmo Encinias, sisters Vestina (Tina) Vargas, Sara Mastellos and her husband Tony Mastellos, along with numerous nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Wendy's At Home Care, the SLP'S, OT'S, PT'S, nurses and social workers with Tender Care Home Health and Ambercare as well as the Director Jill Shannon and all the staff of Blue Horizon Boutique Memory Care facility for their unwavering compassion and care of our beloved mother. They all treated her with kindness, empathy and respect, and we will forever be grateful for their love and support! They all became our extended family.
