Emma G. Flournoy

It is with great sadness that the family of Emma G. Flournoy announce her passing on December 27, 2018 at the age of 97. Emma Flournoy was an active member in the Vado Community for many years "Miss Emma" as she was called by the locals worked at Gadsden High School as a cafeteria worker, had been the Post Mistress for many years, also as a cook for the Senior Citizen Program in Vado, as well as a Community Care Giver. Emma Flournoy loved the Lord and illustrated it daily, she attended the Valley Grove Baptist Church, St. John C.O.G.I.C and was a current member of Valley Grove Christion Faith Center until her health limitations prevented her attendance. Emma is preceded in death by her parents Francis and Louise Boyer, husband Lacy Flournoy sons Lacy Jr., Sherman, Robert Sr. and granddaughter Emma A. Flournoy she is survived by daughters, Willie Streeter, Mary Milner, and Debra Selman. Son-in-laws Rudy Streeter, David Milner and daughter-in-law Alice Flournoy. She was Grandmother of 9 and Great-grandmother of 18, and has a host of nephews, nieces, cousin and lots of friends. Funeral Service will be January 5, 2019, at Getz Funeral Home 1410 East Bowman Ave., Las Cruces, New Mexico, beginning with a viewing at 10:00 a.m., followed by the "Celebration of Life Service" at 11:00 a.m. The interment will follow at the River View Cemetery in Vado, New Mexico.
