Eileen B. Montano

Eileen B. Montano, 81, lifelong resident of the Mesilla Valley passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006. She was born Aug. 6, 1925 in Mesilla, NM to Noberto and Josephine Butler. Eileen was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, a member of the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of America. She devoted herself to the church and would do anything that was asked of her and did so gladly. She was a graduate of Loretto Acadamy and attended NMSU. She had retired from the Las Cruces Public Schools and after a distinguished career as a schoolteacher. Eileen will be deeply missed by all her family and many friends who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Edward (Lalo) Montano of the family home; son Art Montano of Las Cruces; daughters Bernice Andazola and husband Michael of Tempe, AZ and Vita Montano of Las Cruces; brother Joe Fred Butler and wife Hortencia of Las Cruces; grandchildren Stacia, Ryan, Joshua, and Alexander; great-granddaughter Chloe and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Eileen was preceded in death by her son Eddie; sisters Mary Ann Gonzales and Dolores Brooks and by a brother Robert Butler. A visitation will be held from 5 to 6 PM on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home with a prayer vigil to follow at 7:00 PM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral. Eileen's funeral mass is at 10:00 AM on Friday, Dec. 15, 2006 also at Immaculate Heart of Mary with Fr. Juan Moreno officiating. Rite of Committal will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
