Edward Joseph Dougil Rev.

January 20, 1922 — September 8, 2006

Rev. Edward Joseph Dougil (Dogiel), 84, entered eternal life Friday September 8, 2006 while battling an illness at WBAMC in El Paso, TX. He was born on January 20, 1922 in Sheatown, PA to Waclaw (Walter) and Mary Barczak Dogiel. Edward was a Disabled Veteran of WWII serving under General Patten during the Battle of the Bulge. He served in the 71st Infantry Division receiving many awards including a Silver Star and 3 Bronze Stars. After the War he continued his schooling at Rutgers University eventually becoming a Computer Engineer creating many early innovations in computer technology, working for such companies as ITT, GE and NASA (during the Apollo Moon Missions). Upon retirement he moved to Las Cruces in 1972 with his family and decided to work for the Lord and the community so, he became a Deacon for the Catholic Diocese of Las Cruces, which he did for many years until illness made it difficult. He is survived by his wife Florence of 60 years, his daughters Dolores and Deborah, his grandchildren Jeremy, Jameson and Angelina (all of Las Cruces) and many other people who called him Grandpa. He is also survived by his sister, Sophia Krzeczkowski of Toms River, NJ, and his brother Joseph Dogal of Kingston, PA. Other survivors include his son, Edward S. Dougil, grandchildren Edward, Mathew, Lisa, 3 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He touched many people throughout his life in many special ways. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Edwards wish was to be cremated. A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14th at Getz Funeral Home by Deacon Daniel Check. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 15th at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Monsignor Anderson officiating. PDF Printable Version
