Edward E. Wood

Edward Engelsen Wood "Ed" passed away at the age of 72 on Sunday April 5, 2015 peacefully at his home in Las Cruces. Ed was born in Albuquerque, NM to Francis Otis Wood and Nina Engelsen Wood on July 27, 1942. Ed is survived by his Wife Donna A. Wood of Las Cruces, NM, Sister Dorothy Wood of Albuquerque, NM, Son Thomas Wood (Kelly Wood) and Grandchildren Garrett, Andrew and Ryan Wood of Denver, CO and Daughter Samantha Wood (Scott McEachern) of Hampstead, NH. Ed and Donna were married in Holliston, Massachusetts on December 16, 1972. He loved spending time at their Lake House in New Hampshire over the years with his family playing golf, sailing and canoeing. He was a wonderful and caring Husband, Dad and Brother and will forever be in our hearts. Ed attended Highland High School Albuquerque NM and went on to graduate college from the University of New Mexico as a chemical engineer and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After graduation he worked for Shell Oil Company before joining the Army in 1964. He was stationed at Picatinny Arsenal Dover, New Jersey. After leaving the Army Ed worked for Corning Glass for 30 years and retired early allowing him the time to enjoy and live his life with his family and friends. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years and an active member at the Basilica of San Albino. Ed loved watching the young junior golfers come up in the ranks and in lieu of flowers, the family would like donations be made in Memory of Edward Wood to the Sun Country Junior Golf Foundation at 2316 Southern Blvd SE, Suite C, Rio Rancho, NM 87124, or donate online at www.suncountry.pga.com. The family will be holding visitation on Friday April 17th from 5-7 at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave. Las Cruces, NM 88001.
