Douglas Gilbert Eakins

Douglas Gilbert Eakins (age 54), passed away on August 6, 2021, surrounded by his children. He was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Joyce and Eugene Eakins (deceased). He is survived by his brother Michael Eakins, eldest son Bryan Eakins, his younger son Jonathan Eakins, his daughter Hope Eakins, and his granddaughter Samantha Eakins. Douglas was known for helping those in need and instilling in his children the belief that they should leave the world a better place than they found it. He was a truck driver for over twenty years and was known to dress as Santa Claus during the holidays to hand out gifts to children who were traveling on the road. He will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched. Memorial service to be held at Getz Funeral Home on Friday August 27, 2021, at 2pm and will be an open service.
