Doris Clemons Davis was born in Birmingham, Alabama, December 10, 1927, to Leon and Cora Clemons. She passed away October 19, 2022, at the age of 94. Doris was born and raised in Alabama. She graduated with a BS in Home Economics from the currently named, University of Montevallo. She met the love of her life, Lowery H. Davis while teaching in Auburn, Alabama. They were married in December 1953. This union took them to Columbus, Ohio, Clemson, South Carolina, and Las Cruces, New Mexico. Doris considered the opportunity to be involved in her children's lives and activities, events at the various Universities where Lowery was on staff and an active member of the First Baptist Church in each community some of her greatest blessings.
In 2012, after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, Doris moved to Texas to be near Missy's family. As the disease progressed, she was blessed to have Tina Brazzle as her caregiver and considered her as family. Her love for Hospice was "dear to her heart", and wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a Hospice Center near you.
Doris is survived by her children and their families; Daughter, Denise Davis Glinski (Zig), and Donna Glinski; Daughter, Missy Davis Griffin (Keith), Cassie Griffin Call (Jason), Caitlyn Griffin Wash (Chris), Everly Wash, and baby Wash due in February; Son, Woody Davis (Beth), Lexie Davis, James Davis, Caleb Polvogt, Lucie Polvogt, and Isaac Polvogt. She is also survived by sister Betty Ward and brother Leighton Clemons (Kay) and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lowery, and three sisters.
Visitation will be at Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 10:30 am until noon. A graveside service will follow at 12:45pm at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 5140 W. Picacho Ave, Las Cruces.
