Don J. Williamson passed away on May 14, 2022, at Willow Manor Nursing Home in Deming, NM. He was born February 12, 1937, to Henry J. and Marie (Kessler) Williamson in Barberton, Ohio. As a boy Don was involved in 4-H, Boy Scouts, working on the family farm and family outings. Don graduated from Barberton High School in 1955. He had planned on going to Alaska to attend college. A stop in Silver City, New Mexico changed his plans, he attended Western New Mexico University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education and started teaching in Hatch and later the Cobre School System. He also drove a school bus for many years. Don loved to travel including trips to London, France, Australia, and Alaska. He also loved history and collecting antiques, such as trains/railroads items, lanterns, phones and postcards. He was very knowledgeable of the history of Camp Cody, Deming, Columbus and surrounding communities. He served on the board for the Luna County Historical Society and volunteered in the Deming Luna Mimbres Museum Archives for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother David K. Williamson. A special thank you to Willow Manor Nursing Home Staff and Yvonne with Amber Care and all of his friends who stayed with him through his final hours. He will truly be missed. Diamond Deming, NM 88030).
