Dolores Telles

June 22, 1928 — January 10, 2019

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear beloved mother, Dolores Gonzales Telles, age 90. Mom was born June 22, 1928 in Whittier, California, Los Angeles County to Celestina Fierro and Santiago T. Gonzales. She later moved with her family to the Mesilla Valley, Las Cruces, New Mexico. Mom attended elementary school and then stayed in the family home with her father and stepmother after her mother‘s passing. Mom was working at a local five and dime when she met Elfego L. Telles, Sr., our father. They were married December 15, 1945. Mom was a beautiful young bride at age 17. Together they had 11 children. During her lifetime mom worked as a cook. Her main employment was at Memorial Medical Center, at both locations, the first on Alameda and the present one on Telshor. She was also employed at Good Samaritan Village. Mom is survived by 8 of her children; Yolanda, Barbara (Freddy), Teresa Lucero (Larry), Patricia, Santiago "Jimmy" (Sharon), Christy, Estella, and Celestina, also one daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Telles. Dolores is also survived by 18 grandchildren: John Telles (Jennie), Robert Telles (Megumie), Karen Bean (Danton), Matthew Telles (Melissa), William Telles, Steven Telles, (Casie) Ray Allison (Mona), Michael (Vanessa), Billy Rodriguez (Vero), Lawrence Lucero (Judy), Laura Trujillo (Mike), Jeff Telles (Jackie), Jamie Slaughter, CJ Garcia, Nicole Madrid (Robert), Julie Bustillos, Stacie Scouten, Samantha Scouten. Her 28 great grandchildren include; Emily B. Sorensen (Tell) , Ethan, Jacob and Tyler Bean. Amara, Zoe, Reagan, Thomas and Jackie Telles. Beverly A. Teresi (Joe), Isabelle and Johnathan Allison. Yalena, Serina, Michael Rodriguez Jr., (Jamie) Alfonso, Guillermo Rodriguez. Brianna (Angel), Dominic (Rie Ann) Lucero. Heather, Joe, Anthony, Michael, Trujillo. Marisa, Kennedy, Brian Telles. Jacob Slaughter and Nathaniel, Dominic Medeiros. Olivia Madrid, Kayson Bustillos, and Aniyah Gallegos. She also had 3 great great grandchildren; Hailey Teresi, Niyke Lucero and Jayden Lucero. Also many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elfego L. Telles Sr., parents, Celestina and Santiago Gonzales, Her brother, Manuel and his twin Lola Gonzales and an older sister Mary G. Uranga. Her sons Nestor, Ernesto, and Elfego "Sonny" Telles. Pallbearers will be Jeff Telles, Ray Allison, Billy Telles, CJ Garcia, Lawrence Lucero, and Leonard Gonzales.Honorary Pallbearers are grandsons; Billy Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez, Matthew Telles, Steven Telles, John Telles and Robert Telles. A Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday January 15, 2019 from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm; the Rosary will begin at 7:00 pm after the viewing at Getz Funeral Home; located at 1410 East Bowman Avenue. The Funeral Liturgy will be Wednesday January 16, 2019 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church at 1178 N. Mesquite Street. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. First Visitation
