Dolly Jameson

March 13, 1947 — July 28, 2023

She was born Dolly Jean Skaggs, but to us she was our beautiful, sassy, classy wife, mom, sister, aunt and - above all else - Nana. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she earned her angel wings early Friday morning on July 28 at home surrounded by her family, exactly as she wished.

Born in Tularosa, New Mexico on March 13, 1947 to Stephen and Marjorie Skaggs, Dolly Jean was the oldest of two girls, as Rebecca Sue would come six years later. She enjoyed growing up in Tularosa, Arkansas, at White Sands Missile Range and later in Las Cruces, where she went to school at Court Junior High and Las Cruces High School. In 1964, Dolly was a carhop at the Aggie Drive-In when a handsome man with perfect hair drove up to order a vanilla coke, and that's where their love story began. She married Frank Ken Jameson two weeks later on September 24 in El Paso and realized her life's dream, to get married and have kids. This year they would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.

Dolly is survived by her devoted husband Ken, her daughter, Sherry Lynn, her son Kenny (Kelly) and the absolute lights of her life, her five grandchildren: Gary Lee Chavarria, Tomi Lynn Delgado (Rob), Elaina Kymberly Siler (Spencer), Stephanie Nicole Jameson and McKenna Catherine Jameson. She is also survived by her beloved great-grandson, Brody Wade Chavarria and his mother Nycole, great-grandson Gabriel Aiden Delgado, great-granddaughter Cataleya AnnMarie Delgado and two more great-grandbabies on the way. Also left to mourn her passing are her sister Becky Smith (Dennis), sister-in-law Janet Exum (Rob), brother-in-law David Vanmeter, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Marjorie Skaggs, father-in-law Frank Jameson, mother-in-law Gussie Vanmeter, sister-in-law Maureen Jameson Hallman, sister-in-law Nickla Ann Jameson, and several aunts, uncles, friends and friends who she considered family.

Services will be held Friday, Aug. 4 at 1:30 p.m. at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave., with a celebration of life immediately following at the J.M. Carriere VFW Post 10124, 709 S. Valley Drive.
