David Jimenez Prado II

David J. Prado II answered the call to be with his Heavenly Father on January 24th, 2025, at the age of 75 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, surrounded by his wife of nearly 50 years and his loving children.

David was born on August 11th, 1949, in Roswell, New Mexico, to David and Mary Ruth Prado. He graduated from Las Cruces High in 1968. He went on to study at New Mexico State University graduating with a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with Bilingual Education Specialty and a minor in Spanish. After graduating, David went to Bethany Bible College in Scotts Valley, California, where he studied seminary and became an ordained minister for the Spanish Assemblies of God Church. 

On March 1,1975, David married his sweetheart, Lydia Galvan in Watsonville, California. Together, they pastored churches and worked in the ministry. In addition to pastoring churches, David also spent a number of years as a chaplain for the Civil Air Patrol.

David had such a zeal for life and made friends wherever he went. His smile and bright eyes captivated those around him. He loved being outdoors watering his plants and fellowshipping with fellow congregants. His favorite place to be was in the house of the Lord. He lived a life of serving others through ministry and as a public-school teacher. He was known to drop whatever he was doing to go and pray for the sick. David always had a positive outlook on life regardless of the situation. 

His love for his family is immeasurable. He treasured time together whether it was reading to his granddaughters, making meals, flying kites, or taking the family to Ruidoso on vacation. David was musically inclined. He often played the guitar for his granddaughters and serenaded the family with hymns. David was an avid reader; he started his mornings reading the Bible and praying. 

His gentle and loving spirit is greatly missed by his wife, Lydia Galvan Prado, his children, Monique Prado Pecina, and her husband, Andre Pecina, and Mario Galvan Prado, his two granddaughters, Amarise Pecina and Neriyah Pecina. He is also survived by his sister, Diamantina Storment, her husband Ray Storment, his nephew Brandon Storment, and great nephew, Jase Storment, and many family members from the Prado, Jimenez, and Galvan families.

He is preceded in death by his father, David Prado and Mary Ruth Prado. 

Services for David will be February 7th at Heart for the World Church 1605 S. Valley Drive Las Cruces, New Mexico at 12:00 p.m. Graveside burial to follow at the Masonic Cemetery 760 Compress Rd, Las Cruces, NM 88005.
