David C. Alvarez

David C. Alvarez, 84, of Las Cruces, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006. He was born Sept. 12, 1921 in Dona Ana, NM to Rosas and Maria Luisa Alvarez. David was a veteran of the US Air Force where he served his country honorably during WW II and was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Medal, Good Conduct and Distinguished Unit Medals. He was also a retired Automotive Inspector after many years of service at WSMR. David love to play golf with his golfing partner his grandson Dickie and tinker with cars. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his three children David M. Alvarez and wife Elaine of San Diego, CA, Javier R. Alvarez and wife Julie of Pasadena, CA and Mary Helen Romero and husband Dick of Las Cruces; brothers Ernest, Gilbert, Arturo, Ruben and Charlie Alvarez all of Las Cruces; sisters Lillian Vasquez and Mary Lou Barela both of Las Cruces; grandchildren Dickie, Brittney and Ryan and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. David was preceded in death by his loving wife Natalia, son Raul and sister Delia Apodaca. A prayer vigil will be at 7 PM on Friday, March 31, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. The memorial mass for David will be at 9:00 AM on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church with Fr. Gerardo Rivera officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery with military honors. PDF Printable Version
