Danny Jay Gillespie

Danny Jay Gillespie of Garfield, NM, was called home to be with his Lord surrounded by his beloved family and friends. Danny was born in Arrey to Doyal and Rhea Gillespie. He attended Hot Springs High School and never left this area. His occupation was farming, which he never considered a job. He loved the dirt and tending his crops. Eventually he put the entire farm in pecan trees, he loved his trees and the fact his father and family planted the first 20 acres and his wife and daughters planted the rest. Farming was a family business. He always told his family he was only Gods caretaker, if ever a doubt in God, just walk around the farm, proof is all around you, no man could ever create such beauty and wonders. He lived by three simple rules "God", "Family" and "Farm", this was and is the love of his life. He also loved any activity outdoors, especially golfing, fishing, camping, water and snow sking. He loved being outdoors. Danny was a member of the Eagles in Arrey, he loved the people and the committment and the support the club offered the community. He married the love of his life Mandy Gillespie, twenty seven years ago. They worked side by side for the duration of their marriage, never spending more than two nights away from each other. Together they had three wonderful daughters, Nicolette Gillespie and son-in-law Greyson Johnson, Sabrina Gillespie and Leyla Gillespie and son-in-law Sergio Porras. He loved his girls and was so very proud of them. Danny is survived by his wife and girls, brother Doyal Ray and Carol Gillespie, brother Dwight and Amy Gillespie, sister-in-law Sylvia Gillespie, mother-in-law Lynne Lack and brother-in-law Brian Lack, sister-in-law Mary and Larry Merriman, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly. Danny was preceded in death by his parents Doyal and Rhea Gillespie, brother Richard Gillespie, sister Jeanene Gillespie and father-in-law John W. Lack. Services and dinner will be held at New Creation Church, 4 Cosper Rd., Arrey New Mexico, Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 10:30am, luncheon to follow. Paster Angel Baquera, officiating. Later, Danny will be put to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in the family plot by the family. The family wishes to thank the many friends and family, Pastor Baquera, Yvonne, Brittney, and Lisa from Hospice for helping him and the family through this difficult time. Arrangements are with Getz Funeral Home 1410 E. Bowman, Las Cruces, New Mexico.
