Claudia M Hensley

Claudia Mae (Ivins) Hensley peacefully passed away Thursday, September 24 at Sagecrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Claudia was born on October 4, 1931 in Courtney, OK to Claude and Mabel Ivins. She was the oldest of five children. The family moved to New Mexico when Claudia was a teenager. She met and married Fordie Hensley on July 1st 1947. They were married for 67 years when he passed away in March. They had four children; Charles and wife Judith, of Hatch, Tom and wife, Merline of Deming, Judy of Hatch, Vivian and husband Wayne Bradbury of Tonasket, WA, Gina Fullbright and son Joseph of Las Cruces. She has 9 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Claudia spent several years employed by the Hatch Valley Public Schools to do what she loved to do: cook for kids. The children she fed are now grown with children of their own. They still call her Grandma. When she retired, she spent her time upholstering furniture, making apricot and peach jam, and peeling pecans. Those of us who love you will think of you every time we eat a pecan. Pall bearers will be Kevin Hensley, TJ Hensley, Wayne Bradbury, Berney Pacheco, Roy Hensley and JJ Townley, Honorary pall bearers are Charles Hensley, Tom Hensley, Alec Pacheco and Joseph Fullbright. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Hatch, NM. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. Burial will take place at Garden of Memories in Hatch, NM. PDF Printable Version
