Charles (Chuck) M. Johnson, 58, of Las Cruces NM, formerly of Alpine Ca, passed away January 3, 2006 at Mountainview Regional Hospital. He was born in Minneapolis, MN June 24, 1947 to Edward and Charlotte Johnson. Chuck's father was in the Army, so the family moved often, including a stint in France in the early 1950's. Chuck served in the Army in Viet Nam in 67-68. Following his Army Service, he worked as a welder. He attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and graduated in 1980 with a BS in Engineering Technology. He was employed as a Weld Engineer at Solar Turbines where he met the Love of his Life, Jill. They were married for 21 years. He also worked for General Dynamics, Space Systems; KT Aerofab; and Rohr Industries. While he was with General Dynamics, he worked at Cape Canaveral and witnessed the Challenger disaster. Chuck was a life member of VFW Post 9578 in Alpine, Ca. His passion was motorcycles. Chuck and Jill took a memorable motorcycle trip of the Alps. A motorcycle ride also led them to a house in Alpine that became their home for 17 years. Another motorcycle trip in April 2004 led to their move to Las Cruces in Dec. 2004. He is survived by his wife, sisters Patty Sadeghi (Ebrahim), Diane Mulherin (Steve), Connie Smith (Bob), and Tammy Fitzgerald (Bobby); brothers Stan Johnson (Kim), Alan Johnson (Vivian), Mike Johnson, and Ralph Johnson; brothers-in-law Jim Seibert and Ted Seibert; and numerous nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held January 18, 2006 at 3:00pm at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Point Loma. PDF Printable Version
