Charles G. Elrod

Charles G. Elrod, 69, passed away here in Las Cruces on Wednesday, June 25, 2008. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on April 9, 1939. He was a veteran of the US Navy where he served his country honorably during the Vietnam Era. Charles then went on to The Western Company where he was a truck driver after more than 20 years of faithful service. His greatest joy in life was his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all his family and many friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Nita Elrod of the family home; children Deborah Rogers of Kerrville, TX, Johnny Elrod of Odessa, TX and Tracy Elrod of Denver, CO; grandchildren Terry Ritchie, Jimmy Wayne Elrod, Jamie Elrod, J.C. Elrod, Shane Elrod, Shawn Elrod and Kirsti Elrod of Midland/Odessa, TX; step-children Bob McEntire of Houston, TX, Rick McEntire of Alpine, TX and Deborah Flamm of Las Cruces; step-grandchildren Chelsey McEntire and Cody McEntire of Alpine, TX, Robert and Kyle Flamm and Crystal Carrillo all of Las Cruces. Charlie also had 3 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM on Friday, June 27, 2008 at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be at 9 AM also at Getz Funeral Home on Saturday, June 28, 2008 with Dr. Maurice Hollingsworth of First Baptist Church officiating. At his request cremation will take place and a private burial of his cremains will take place at a later date. PDF Printable Version
