Celia M. Winans

Celia Margaret Jones Winans, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at La Posada on March 1, 2008 at the age of 84 years. She was born June 5, 1923 in El Paso, Texas, the daughter of Morris Fletcher Jones and Myrtle Alice Temple Jones, both deceased. She graduated from Austin High School in El Paso, Texas in 1941. She met her future husband Francis (Newt) Winans while in high school. After dating for three years they were married December 21, 1941. She and her husband took their marriage vows again on December 20, 1991, in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, in a beautiful ceremony amid the red and gold Christmas decorations at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where they have been members for many years. They recently celebrated their 66th anniversary in December 2007. Margaret always loved sports and her "Amazing Aggies" whether it be football or basketball or golf, at home or on the radio! While in high school she played tennis and continued playing with Jerry and Linda while in they where in high school and college, and played often with Newt and many of her friends. As time passed, their interest changed more to golf (where Margaret made a "hole in one". She and Newt were members of the Las Cruces Country Club for many, many years. She became quite the
