Catarina Montoya

Catarina Montoya, 94, of Tortugas, NM passed away on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011. Katy as she was fondly known was born Nov. 16, 1916 in Tortugas to Concepcion and Felicita Molina Montoya. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she attended mass every day to pray the rosary. Katy enjoyed music, dancing and going to the Munson Center, but her passion was for her grandchildren and entire family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Katy is survived by her daughter Mary Helen Flores of the family home; sister Caly Belarde of Albuquerque, NM; granddaughters Katheryn Martinez and husband Rafael Sr., and April Flores and companion Sergio Tijerina; great-grandchildren Rafael Jr., Kimberly, Desiree, Gabriel and Mareli. She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers and one sister. A visitation will be held from 5 to 6 pm on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 6 pm. Katy's funeral mass to celebrate her life will be at 9:30 am on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Fr. Vincent Petersen officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at the Tortugas Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rafael Martinez Jr., Kimberly Ontiveros, Wilbert Ortega, Victorio Carabajal, Michael and Eddie Montoya.
