Carrie Lee Cooper

Carrie Lee Cooper, 79, a long time resident of Las Cruces, died January 13, 2010, at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. Carried was born in Portales, New Mexico on May 26, 1930 to Annie Mae Lee Fleener and Scott Fleener. She met and married Bobby Joe Cooper, her husband of 61 years, in Houston, Texas. The family moved to New Mexico in 1962 and to Las Cruces in 1965. She opened her own bookkeeping office in 1970 and was in the accounting and tax preparation business for 30 years. She also did billing and collections for several Mutual Domestic Water systems and managed the ZIA/New Mexico Central Federal Credit Union Las Cruces office for a time. Carrie was an Enrolled Agent and a past member of National Society of Public Accounts. Her office was located at 1018 East Amador. She was respected by all of her family and friends who loved her dearly. Her clients were very important to her. Besides her work, which she loved, Carrie loved to travel and work on her hobbies (when she had time). She made and painted ceramics, did stained glass, designed and strung beads. She also loved rock-hounding, collecting art figurines and several other things like cooking and canning jellies, preserves and other good stuff to eat. Carried was loved and adored by her family and will be dearly missed. Although she loved Las Cruces, her dream was to move to her summer home in Colorado, but due to health problems and the high altitude this was not possible. Carrie is survived by her husband, Bobby, daughter and husband, F. Jeannette and Larry Lockard of El Paso Texas, son and wife, Robert Paul Cooper and Alida Truby of Albuquerque, New Mexico, grandson, wife and great-grand daughter, Kevin, Virginia and Abigail Lockard of Oak Harbor Washington, grandson, Chris Lockard of Ft. Collins Colorado and her beloved Chihuahua, Nina. At present, no service will be held. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
