Carolyn Jeannette Scandrett Worthington, age 95, passed away on May 5th, 2006 at the Las Cruces Nursing Home in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She had been a longtime resident of Los Alamos, NM. Originally from Florida, Carolyn and her husband Kermit and their 3 children moved to Los Alamos in 1945, pulling an airstream trailer. She quickly fell in love with Los Alamos and Indian culture. The Worthington family joined the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and played the piano. She maintained a strong Christian faith all her life. She was a member of the Eastern Stars and Daughters of the American Revolution. She also enjoyed her work at the Los Alamos Medical Center. She began working in the late 1940's and retired as the Medical Records Administrator in 1975. After retirement she began to enjoy her passion for genealogy and travel. Her lifetime travels took her to Argentina, Europe, Japan and Hong Kong and to, as she put it, "Paradise" of Hawaii. Her record keeping and knowledge of family genealogy was a big contribution in the publishing of her family's genealogy book. In 1993 with advancing age, Carolyn moved to Las Cruces to live with her son and remained there until her passing. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Kermit Worthington; her daughter Mary Helen Watson; her sons Richard Worthington and Ivan Worthington and by her grandson Moss Watson. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Scandrett, William Scandrett, and Robert Scandrett.
