Mary Carlene (Miller) Ruttle died peacefully on January 14th, 2023, under the care of Mesilla Valley Hospice and with her daughter, Karen, by her side. Carlene was born to Clyde and Mary Elsie (Williams) Miller on July 24th, 1934, in Goldsby, Oklahoma. Carlene was raised with her sisters, Charlsie and Donna, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Their parents owned and operated a grocery store that the family lived above. After graduating from Albuquerque High School, Carlene went to New Mexico A & M where she studied nutrition and was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She met the love of her life, Jack Ruttle, in a chemistry class. They were married in June of 1956 and celebrated 66 years of marriage in June of 2022. They had five children, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. For many years, Carlene was the owner and operator of Kiddie Kampus Day Care. She truly supported her husband Jack in all his professional endeavors and adventures. Besides taking care of her family, Carlene loved to design and decorate her house, travel with Jack, shop for collectibles and high fashion, grow beautiful roses, read, and do needlework. Carlene was also an expert seamstress and upholsterer creating many original pieces. Carlene was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jack and son, John, her parents, Clyde and Elsie, and her sister, Charlsie. She leaves behind daughters Leslie (Tim) and Karen (Russell), sons Jim (Denise) and Jeff (Sandy), ten nephews and nieces Alex, Quinten (Kristy), Owen, Sidney (Cody), Shelby (Marc), Kailene, Lucas, Carson, Bonnie, Jaden and eight great-grandchildren, her sister, Donna, as well as nephews Donald, Mike, Mark, and James. The family appreciates all of the love, support and prayers from family and friends for all of the recent losses we have had in the past five and a half months. We are comforted to know that our beautiful mother no longer suffers from confusion and is reunited with Jack, John, and her family in the heavenly arms of our Lord. Services will be held on Monday February 6th, 2023, at 10:30 am at the Basilica of San Albino, Mesilla, New Mexico located on the Mesilla Plaza, corner of Calle Principal and Santiago. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carlene's memory to Mesilla Valley Hospice online at https://mvhospice.kindful.com or the Alzheimer's Association online at https://act.alz.org.
