Bruce Newberry

Roy Bruce Newberry - dedicated husband, father, son, friend and "Gramps" - was called to his heavenly home at the age of 58 on December 20, 2022 in Las Cruces, NM after a sudden illness. Born on September 26, 1964 in Portales, New Mexico. He was the son of and is survived by, Roy Herbert Newberry and Julia Caroline Parker, and leaves behind three siblings; Mitzi (George) Newberry, Pam (Scott) Ball and Robby (Sharmon) Newberry.

Bruce is survived by the love of his life, Jody Lynne Newberry; along with three children that meant the world to him; Alyssa (Anthony) Madrid, Kathryn Newberry, and Kyel (Allison) Newberry; Six grandchildren, Aubrey Madrid, Andon Madrid, Ezekiel Newberry, Alivia Madrid, Oakley Newberry and Asher Madrid and many loving relatives and friends.

A graduate of Eastern New Mexico University, Bruce was a respected teacher of drafting, woodshop and industrial technology at Oate High School, Las Montaas Charter High School and Doa Ana Branch Community College. Bruce loved sports, especially baseball, and enjoyed coaching throughout his life. He enjoyed traveling, golfing and wood working in his shop but his favorite thing of all was getting to love on and spend time with his grandbabies. Whether it be out at the ball field, on the golf course, in the backyard, at the farm, or standing in line at an amusement park, together was his favorite place to be. "Remember to cherish each moment for this is what memories are made of".

No memorial service is immediately planned at this time. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, you consider donating blood within your local community.



Friends and Family please join us as we Celebrate the Life of Bruce Newberry at Central Christian Church in Portales, New Mexico on February 18th, 2023 @ 2:00 pm. It will also be live streamed @ www.centralwired.org for those of you who will not be able to attend. Please join us in fellowship and help us to remember Bruce and the many lives he touched during his all too brief time on this earth.
