Betty-Lou Fern Dunlap

January 3, 1932 — September 1, 2019

On Sunday, September 1, 2019, Betty Lou F. Dunlap, at the age of 87, left this earth and went to be with her loving heavenly father. Betty was born at the family home in Freeport, Kansas. She lived in Kansas until graduating from Scott City High School. After graduating, she moved to Oklahoma with a friend. Betty worked in a malt shop across from an Army base. One day a handsome young military policeman (whom she had never seen) came in, saw her and said, "Will you marry me?" It took some convincing, but they were eventually married. We are so glad they did! Betty was a devoted wife for over 50 years and a wonderful mother to her six children. She loved being with her family and cooking meals for them. Betty was a kind and caring person. She was always ready to babysit grandchildren or help other s in any way she could. Betty loved flowers and plants, her great dan dog "Blaze", and helping in the nursery at church. Betty is survived by five children: Sarana (Roy) Placker; Rebecca (Stanley) McCarty; Karen (Darren) Bishop; Charles (Roxanne) Dunlap, Camille (Patrick) Hernandez, 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Bennie and Daughter Linda. Betty's eternal legacy is that she became a Christian, raised each of her children to love the Lord, and they in turn are raising their children to love and honor the Lord.
