Bettye Sue Isaacs Boucher

December 26, 1931 — March 26, 2021

Bettye Sue Isaacs Boucher passed away on March 26, 2021 at the age of 89. Bettye had been residing at The Aristocrat Assisted Living Community in Las Cruces, NM. Bettye was born to Isaac Edward and Lessie Mae Isaacs in Commerce, Texas on December 26, 1931. She was the youngest of 5 children. On August 26, 1955 she married Howard Hart Boucher Sr in Luling, TX along the San Marcos River. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education at East Texas State University (Texas A&M University-Commerce) in 1952. She taught elementary school for 34 years retiring in Anthony, TX in 1986. She and her husband lived in Anthony, TX from 1973 to 2013. After her husband's passing in 2013, she moved to Las Cruces to be closer to family and try her hand at being a New Mexican. However, it was not truly meant to be: she was always a Texan at heart! She enjoyed many years of playing golf at Dos Lagos Golf Course in Anthony, NM and the Las Cruces Country Club. She was very proud of her two "hole-in-one" golf shots at the Las Cruces Country Club. She designed and wore many brimmed hats to match her golfing outfits as well as marking her golf balls with her signature penguin sketch. She had many other hobbies including painting landscapes, knitting, cross stitch and sewing. Many weekends she would take the day to go shopping around El Paso, always ending her shopping spree with a glass of red wine at one of the local restaurants. She was survived by her only child, Howard Hart Boucher, Jr., and wife Debbie, of Las Cruces, NM, two granddaughters Caitlyn Boucher (Deming, NM) and Courtney Boucher (Wylie, TX) and great-grandson Connor Telles (Wylie, TX) as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Isaac and Lessie Isaacs, husband Howard Boucher Sr, brothers Edward Isaacs and Tony Isaacs, and sisters Billie Jean Bartley and Pauline Pettus. Services will be held at Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces on April 2, 2021 at 10:00 am to be followed by burial at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, TX.
