Bess Warren passed peacefully from this earth 02/24/2010, at Mesilla Valley Hospice La Posada. Born Bess Lyle Evans Sept. 19, 1930 in Lamy, NM to Robert Ian Evans and Lennie Empire Evans (nee Daniels), she grew up on working ranches in Eastern and Northeastern New Mexico, started school in Eunice, NM and graduated high school in Lovington, NM. She moved to Las Cruces to attend NMSU, where she met and married Charles E. Warren. In Las Cruces, she worked at various businesses, including Warren Lumber and Paint Company. Together they raised four children, teaching them the love of boating and water and snow skiing. Bess and Charlie moved to Ruidoso in 1974, where she worked at Brunell's for many years. After Charles' death, she returned to Las Cruces to be closer to family. Bess was an avid painter, and enjoyed playing cards with her friends and gardening. She is survived by her children Jimmy Warren, Danny Warren (wife Lisa), and Carroll A. Curtis; her grandchildren Raquel Frazier (husband Jason), Steven Getz, Bryan Getz (wife Riki), Chad Getz (wife Christi), Miles Houser, Amanda, Phillip and Bridgette Warren, Chase (wife Stacey) and Caitlyn Curtis; her great grandchildren Tristyn , Tanner, Rylei and Garrett Getz, and Addison, Jake and Will Frazier; and her dear sisters LaNell Burns, Ida Jo Breaux, Anna Beth Lipscomb, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charlie Warren, daughter BJ Getz, brother Ben Rushing, and grandson Clay Warren Curtis. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday March 1, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Whitely officiating.
