Berdenia Louise Shells

Berdenia Louise Shells was born October 27, 1948, to Napoleon & Christine Smith in Clarksville, TX. After the death of Napoleon, Christine married an unrelated Smith - Samuel "Samie" Smith who raised Louise as his own. The family relocated to Alamogordo, NM where she was raised and attended school. Berdenia accepted Christ at an early age; she continued her walk with Christ at Corinth Baptist Church. On September 2, 1967, Berdenia married the love of her life Norman Shells. They settled in Denver, Colorado and of his union they raised 6 daughters. Berdenia (Louise) loved taking care of her family. She also, loved cooking: making the best Hot Water Cornbread that only she knew how to make, and baking her famous sweet potato pies. Berdenia loved to take you on in some dominoes. Louise loved talking to people, feeding people and even if you needed a dollar or two, she was very generous. If she, had it, you had it. Berdenia was very kind, sweet, loving, and endearing to whomever she associated with; she had a beautiful soul with a great sense of humor. She leaves to cherish her loving memory 5 daughters - Sonya Denice Rice of Hobbs, NM; Jacqueline Stackhouse of Alamogordo, NM; LaShonda Yvette Williams, Anita Jeanette Shells and Christine Denise Shells all of Denver, CO. 3 brothers - Charles Curtis Smith (Linda) Denver, Co; Marvin "Bo" Smith (Wanda) Albuquerque, NM; Rev. Darnell Smith (Alesha) Albuquerque, NM. 2 sisters - Kathye Bias (Larry) Denver, CO; LaQuita Hull Washington, DC; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; one Uncle Donald Dilworth Alamogordo, NM; 3 Aunts - Myrtle Thornton Temecula, CA; Lou Setta Alford Hemet, CA and Faye Dilworth Hobbs, NM; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents, loving husband Norman Shells, daughter Crystal Dawn Shells. Louise has two special, loving, caring sisters that are her first cousins Chris Hilliard (Wade) and Michelle Dilworth both of Alamogordo. She absolutely adored and cherished them dearly. Louise's special friends: Margaret Akison of Hobbs, NM and Julio Tave of Alamogordo. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Corinth Baptist Church.
