Barbara Redshaw

Barbara (Barb) Joan Redshaw passed on unexpectedly in Las Cruces, NM on Tuesday January 17, 2017 at the young age of 67. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 1, 2049. Since she was born into a military family she moved extensively throughout Europe and the US during her formative years. The final home destination was Libertyville, IL. In 1969 she chose to attend Illinois State University for one year. She began her career in Illinois as a secretary and Word Processing expert. Following this she worked for Redshaw AV in Libertyville, IL. In 1986 she moved to El Paso, Texas incorporating her executive secretarial /word processing skills and worked for the Kemp Smith Law Firm. She excelled as a wordsmith and legal secretary and also a trainer for the Word Processing department. She moved to Las Cruces, NM and worked for Sandenaw & Piazza Law Firm. After the closing of the firm she worked as legal secretary for the City Attorney's office of Las Cruces until her retirement in 2015. While working she provided caring support for her aging parents. She was a loving daughter and passionate about the care of her parents, Ward and Margaret Redshaw. Family and friends were always a high priority and she was a loving and supportive aunt to her nieces and nephews. She loved her Canadian family with great zeal as she enjoyed many wonderful family trips to the Canadian north-country. Pets were her great love and many a dog and cat were rescued by her, often enjoying many pets at a time for many years. Barbara loved the Arts. She enjoyed painting for many years and there by collected works in many forms of art. Home design was another favorite and enjoyable pastime. Barbara is survived by her brother Neil Redshaw and his wife Tara of Grayslake, Illinois, children Ben and Alexandra Gilligan and her husband, James and children Cassandra and James ; her sister, Janet Prochnow and husband, Dennis of Albuquerque, NM, children Heather and husband, Dale Kuykendall, their children Justin and Brynn; Emrys and wife, Jessica, their children Brody and Rhett, Luke, Grace and son, Honor, and Adelina; brother, Mark Redshaw of Chaska, MN and wife, Margaret , children Joshua, Cody, Ian and wife, Allison their daughter Sawyer, and Carolyn. She is preceded in her death by her parents Ward and Margaret Redshaw of Las Cruces, NM. We all enjoyed Barb's sense of humor and laughter. Barbara will be deeply missed by friends, colleagues, and her devoted family.
