Barbara Jane Wagner Barbara Jane Wagner's generous heart stopped beating April 30, 2021 at the age of 73 at Mountain View Hospital. Gathered around her bedside at her time of death were her loving, devoted husband of 53 years, Jim Wagner, her sister and husband, her nieces and nephew as well as her pastor. Barbara was born to Jack and Isabella Riddle on October 15, 1947 in Las Cruces, New Mexico in the old McBride Hospital. Barbara graduated from Las Cruces High School at the age of 16, got her education degree from New Mexico State University and taught English at Mayfield High School for many years. Mrs. Wagner enjoyed teaching literature, she enjoyed her students and gave her time to extra school activities. Barbara and Jim also enjoyed traveling around the country, from Alaska to Louisiana, in their motor home. Barbara loved to talk and laugh and was always selfless in helping others. Even when ill health largely confined her to a wheelchair and limited her mobility, she would say at the preparation of meals at family gatherings, "If you would only help me get up I know I can help." Barbara loved her immediate and extended family. She was always thinking of perfect gifts to give them on birthdays and Christmas. Barbara is survived by her husband James Wagner, his four sisters and brother and their families, her sister Patty Hughs and husband Ed along with their children Ryan Hughs and wife Amy, Erin Clements and husband David, and Amy Smith and husband Nathanael, and all their children who are going to greatly miss their Aunt B. We all grieve her loss but know that she is with her Lord and is healed. Barbara was preceded in death by her father and mother. We are in debt to Barbara's caring neighbors and friends, caregivers, pastor Doug Coyle, Dr. Ann Mercer, and the staff in the Mountain View ICU that attended her. A visitation will be held Friday, May 14, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Getz Funeral Home. A memorial service honoring Barbara's life will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Grace Covenant Church. A graveside service will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, May 19 at 2:00 PM. All gatherings are open to everyone. First Visitation
