Barbara Ellen Moody, age 76, passed away on Thursday, April 16, in Las Cruces. Born in El Paso, Texas she grew up in Las Cruces where she spent much of her adult life. She graduated from Las Cruces High School and New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in economics. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Stanley Edwards, sister Marilyn Boyd and Aunt Ellen Kendrick. She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years Bill R. Moody whom she married in 1954 at the Little Rock Church at Hill, New Mexico. Other survivors include: her 2 daughters Cristina Lenko and husband Paul of Scottsdale, Arizona and Melinda Yost and husband Matt of Carrollton, Texas, two grandsons, Garyn Moody and Logan Yost of Carrollton, sister Carol Ann Case of Houston, Texas and nephews Robert and Lewis Case of Dallas, Texas her Aunt Mary Holt and Uncle Jason Edwards of Rohnert Park, California, her loyal caregiver Rufina Ontiveros and loving physician Sylvia Sierra. Barbara was active locally in Campfire Girls with her daughters and was a founding member of the Desert Playwrights. Among her volunteer work, she was appointed by the Governor to serve on the New Mexico Endowment for the Humanities in the 1980's. Barbara was a life-long photographer; she also enjoyed bird watching, star gazing and cooking. Graveside services to celebrate Barbara's life were held Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Masonic Cemetery with Smokey Blanton officiating, where she will be buried next to her parents.
