Audrey Marion Hartley

Audrey Marion Hartley (Audrey Hardman-Hartley, Auj, Goddess), passed away peacefully at home March 6, 2021, surrounded by her family and furbabies at the age of 58. Audrey was born in Las Cruces, NM to Brittain and Dianne Hardman on April 24, 1962. Part of her childhood was spent in El Paso, TX, but she graduated from Waiakea High School in Hilo, Hawaii, where she was the first student body president and member of the swim team. She was married to John C. Hartley June 6, 1992. Audrey was a prolific communicator, attaining both undergraduate and graduate degrees in the subject. She authored one children's book, Colors for Michaela, and devoted her life to the care of both children and the elderly. At various points in her life, she was the Executive Director of Jardin de Los Ninos (school and daycare for homeless & near-homeless children), Arbors of Del Rey, Cotton Bloom, and other assisted living facilities. She was a long time member of the Conquistadors, the good-will ambassadors for the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce, and devoted much of her time to helping charities and supporting her community. She is survived by her husband, John Hartley, and daughters Marion Blair and Monica Brock Hartley. Audrey has been described by friends and family as "larger than life, a force of nature, fiercely committed, and devoted to her friends and family". She will always be remembered for her take-charge, full-on attitude, her ability to "work a room", her motto of "take care of everyone in need", and for her ruby red shoes.
