Ara Lou Myers Ara Lou Myers, beloved wife and loving mother, peacefully passed on January 18, 2019. Ara was born on September 15, 1929 to John Harvey and Laurice Morris in Malvern, Arkansas. As a devoted wife of a career Chief Petty Officer, Ara was a faithful home maker through multiple shore and sea duty naval assignments. When the family left the Navy, Ara served as service coordinator in several long-term care facilities across the Southwest until her retirement in 2003. Ara lived in, and overcame, the rigors of the Great Depression and continually shared the courage, determination and memories of those years with her loving family. Ara was a devout Christian and the family Praises God that she is now resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ara is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jerald W. Myers Sr. of Las Cruces and four grown children; Cheryl Myers Ragsdale of Kyle, Texas, Jerald W. Myers Jr. of Albuquerque, Charlotte Myers Kneeland of Las Cruces and Catherine Myers Whiteley of Las Cruces. Ara was adored by her 10 grandchildren and as "Gigi" by her 15 great grandchildren. She is also survived by Joe Morris of Wichita, Kansas, Jim Morris of Oklahoma City, OK, Aubrey Morris of Pasadena, TX, Gary Morris of Huffman, Texas and Rhydonna Morris Pitts of New Caney, Texas. She was preceded in death by an infant baby brother, Kenneth Morris, Bill Morris, Maxine Morris Garrett and Donald Morris. A Memorial Service will be conducted at the Morning Star United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 1:00 pm. Arrangements are with Getz Funeral Home 1410 E.
