Anselmo "Chemo" F. Sauceda, 83, lifelong resident of the Mesilla Valley died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005. He was born May 2, 1921 in Chamberino, NM to Hilario and Luz Sauceda. Chemo was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during WW II and earned the American Theater and Good Conduct Medals. He was also retired after 33 years of service from WSMR as the Chief of Security Police. He was a farmer and an outdoors person who loved to fish and travel. Mr. Sauceda will be deeply missed by his family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his children Louis Sauceda and wife Sylvia, Alma Cortez and husband David all of Las Cruces and Deanna Stinebaugh and husband John of Sunland Park, NM. Also by his grandchildren Joseph, Christopher, Jason, Annelies, Zackary and Wyatt. Nieces Angie Morgan, Josie Alvarez, and his nephew Mel Acosta. Chemo was preceded in death by his loving wife Cecilia in 1993 and by sisters Anita Acosta and Francisca Sauceda. A visitation will be held from 6 to 7 PM Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 at Holy Cross Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will follow at 7PM. The funeral mass is at 10:00 AM Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005 also at Holy Cross with Fr. Martin Cordero officiating. Rite of Committal will be a Masonic Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers are Sylvester (Sly) Aguirre, Christopher Sauceda, Benjamin Garcia, Stanley Morgan, Henry Dominguez and Arturo Alvarez, Jorge Moy and Hector Meraz.
