Anna Sylvester Profile Photo

Anna Ludwig Sylvester 5/2/1923 - 6/16/2022 It is with great sadness that the family of Anna Ludwig Sylvester announce her passing on June 16, 2022, at the age of 99. Anna was born in El Paso, Texas to Bertha and Henry Ludwig. She was the youngest of nine children and grew up in Anapra and Anthony, New Mexico. She has resided in Las Cruces for the past twenty-one years. Prior to that she and her husband operated a business and raised a family in Grants, New Mexico. She was a lifelong member of Beta Si Sorority and was active in the Catholic Church as a board member, lector and the volunteer manager of the St. Vivian's Thrift Store for over 10 years. She also served on the board of directors for Casa San Jose, a catholic home for unwed mothers. As an avid fan of New England football and Duke basketball, she brought much laughter to us all when we listened to her yells of glee or moans of displeasure. We will remember a life well lived and a heart well loved. Her parting advice to us was to stay strong in your faith, to keep family close and to always remember to laugh. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Sylvester and daughter Shelby Heiden. She is survived by her daughters Debbie Michael (Jimmy), Jackie Stahlecker (Paul), and son Dennis Sylvester, as well as 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Holy Cross Retreat House. A private burial will take place at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery where Anna will be laid to rest next to her husband. The family wishes to thank the staff at Northrise Memory Care for their support and efficiency in helping us care for our mother. We also wish to thank the homebound volunteers from Holy Cross and other individuals and agencies which became a dear part of her life's journey. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association. Service Information
