Ann Crombie Reynaud

Ann Crombie Reynaud, 88, passed away quietly March 16, 2012. She was born on November 14, 1923, in El Paso, Texas to pioneer El Pasoans, William Steel and Alice Fisher Crombie. She grew up in Kern Place at 907 Cincinnati Street with her siblings, Bill and Ali. She graduated from Dudley Elementary School and El Paso High School, where she established her best and life long friendships. After attending the Texas College of Mines (UTEP) her freshman year, she graduated from Mills College in Oakland, California. Ann was active in numerous civic organizations including The El Paso Symphony Assn., The Junior League of El Paso, the Pan American Round Table, the Sun Carnival Association, the PTA at Mesita Elementary School, and later enjoyed belonging to Las Comadres, a local organization celebrating lifelong El Paso friendships. She enjoyed her teaching career at Radford School, Lamar Elementary, Wiggs Middle School and the American Schools in Singapore and Madrid, Spain. She was a devoted member and volunteer throughout her life at St. Clement's Episcopal Church. Ann spent many hours playing tennis and sharing time with her family and friends at the El Paso Tennis Club. She was an avid gardener as well. She will be remembered by her friends and family for her gentle, encouraging spirit, her empathetic heart, for her inner beauty and radiant smile. She rightfully lived up to her nickname of "Angel". She was preceded in death by her parents, William Steel Crombie and Alice Fisher Crombie, her husband, William H. Reynaud, her former husband, Frederick H. McKinstry, her daughter, Mary Ann McKinstry Hughes (Larry), her siblings, William S. Crombie, Jr. and Alice Crombie Bassett, and her devoted sister-in-law, Kate Black Crombie. She is survived by two of her children and their families: Lanier McKinstry John (Kenny), and Frederick H. (Fritz) McKinstry (Kathy). She adored her grandchildren, Christi Walker, Anthony (wife, Amy), Annie, and Jonathan John, and her treasured great grandchildren, Taylor and Tessa Walker and Brody John. Ann's greatest joy came from her deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. Her devotion and love of lifelong friends brought her great happiness. Eleanor Cotton, the late Nena Shapleigh, Mardee de Wetter, and Sugar Goodman were devoted to one another from their early school days to the present. Ann's determined effort to hold on to family tradition and relationships touched each and every one of her many nieces, nephews, and their families. This evoked a determination in each one to continue the legacy that is "Granny and Pom Pom." Her devoted Thursday morning Bible study group, Anchor Group, and her entire St. Clement's family were her inspiration and gave her life so much meaning and purpose. Her family acknowledges with gratitude Maria Garcia, family friend, Margarita Heiringhoss, caregiver, the staff at Monte Vista, Home Instead Home Health Care, most especially Kathleen Anderson, Global Hospice, and extends special thanks to Dr. Branch Craige. A memorial service will be held at St. Clement's Church, 810 N. Campbell, on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. A private burial service will be held in the church garden at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of St. Clement, to Ciudad Nueva, downtown community outreach program through St. Clement's, or a charity of your choice. PDF Printable Version
