Angelica Whitbread

July 6, 1908 — July 17, 2005

Mrs. Angelica Whitbread, 97, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2005 in Las Cruces, NM surrounded by family. Angelica, or "Witi" as she was lovingly known to her family and friends, was born on July 6, 1908 in the Republic of Panama. As a young woman, Angelica worked for a time as a rural school teacher in the interior of Panama. Later she lived in Panama City and held various positions until she married Englishman David Whitbread in 1947. In 1958 she moved with her husband and daughter to England, returning to Panama in 1961. Angelica has lived in the southwestern United States with her daughter and family since 1976 and proudly became a US citizen in 1998 at the age of 89. Angelica was a dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother and always gave freely of her time and energy for the betterment of those she loved. She was a devoted Catholic who loved the Lord and shared her love of God and Jesus Christ with all she knew. She was preceded in death by her husband David Whitbread, mother Mercedes Moreno Munoz, father Maximo Munoz, sisters Julia, America, Edisa, Amada and Felicita and brothers Fabio and Luis. She is survived by her only child Jessie Daniel, son in law Robert Daniel, granddaughter Amanda Mercedes Daniel and husband Gary Gray, grandson David Robert Daniel, sisters Delia, Pura and Elga, brother Tibo and countless nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2005 at 11:OO AM at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church 100 S. Espina in Las Cruces with Fr. Juan Moreno officiating. PDF Printable Version
