Angelica Ponce Chavez

June 17, 1937 — July 16, 2013

Angelica Ponce Chavez, age 76 and lifelong resident of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away July 16, 2013 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces. She departed encompassed by the immense love of her family and friends after many years of struggling with congestive heart failure; and recently, abdominal and respiratory complications. She was born on June 17, 1937, in Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico, as the youngest of five (5) children, born to her father and mother Alberto and Marina Ponce. During the course of her love-filled and altruistic life, Angelica touched the lives of many souls. She diligently upheld and taught Christian principles; encouraging everyone in her life, by perpetual example. She was a very humble, yet intelligent and skilled woman, portrait artist and housewife. She was the epitome of motherhood to her four (4) children, Samuel P. Chavez (her eldest and only son), her three (3) daughters Leticia C. Fickes, Yolanda C. Duarte, and Rosemary P. Chavez. She was equally a loving and dedicated wife to her deceased husband, Manuel Chavez. She loved God with all her heart and soul; faithfully keeping His commandments; and the Faith and Testimony of Jesus Christ. She is sorely missed by all who knew her. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 9:00 AM at San Albino Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
