Alyson Jeanne Otero (Banegas)

Alyson Jeanne Otero (Banegas), 34, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025.A proud Las Cruces native, Alyson was born to Gerald and Annetta Banegas. On May 6, 2017, Alyson married the love of her life, Lucas Otero, and together they have two beautiful daughters.Alyson Otero, MD, was a talented and compassionate OB-GYN at Mountainview Regional Medical Center and she was driven by a lifelong passion for serving her community. Attending Las Cruces High School and completing her undergraduate degree at New Mexico State University, Alyson went on to earn her medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and completed her medical residency at the University of Colorado in Denver. Alyson returned home to Las Cruces in 2021 and dedicated herself to providing care to the women of her hometown. Alyson enjoyed hiking, running, cooking, and creating memories with her family and friends. She was a passionate athlete and sports fan. Beyond her beauty, her smile, laugh and loving personality will always be remembered and missed by those who knew her.

Alyson is survived by her husband Lucas; her daughters Sayra and Amira; her parents Gerry and Annetta; her brother Patrick (Michelle); her grandparents Frank and Marilyn Artuso, her loving in-laws Luke and Darlene Otero; along with many other loving family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents James and Mary Emma Banegas and aunt, Patricia Banegas.

Services for Alyson will  begin at 11:00am on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at St. Genevieve Catholic Church.
