Alvin Lee Davidson

October 31, 1929 — April 21, 2006

Alvin Lee Davidson, 76, of Las Cruces, left his dwelling place on earth to be with his Heavenly Father, Friday, April 21, 2006 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving Family. Alvin was born October 31, 1929 to Joseph and Alice (Brook) Davidson in Willis, Kansas. He graduated from Powhattan High School, Powhattan, Kansas in 1947. He farmed in Brown County, Kansas, except when serving in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. He attended Machinery Repairman School in San Diego, California. Alvin obtained the rating of MR 1st Class Petty Officer. He was married to Evelyn Larkin, in Falls City, Nebraska, May 2, 1954. The family moved to Las Cruces, NM in 1960. He worked as foreman, lessee, and half owner of Ottesen Machine Co., from 1960 until his death. Alvin was a Patron Life Member of the NRA, a Life Member of the National Benchrest Shooters Assoc., and competed in many matches in the US as well as Germany and France. He developed and marketed numerous tools and items for the shooting sports. He was a Charter Member of the New Mexico Vintage Iron Tractor Club, an avid wild turkey hunter and trout fisherman. Alvin loved Western Swing Music. He is survived by Evelyn, his wife of 51 years, sons, Dean and wife Carmen and Jon and his wife Karin, Grandchildren, Derek, Elena, Elisa and Kathrine, all of Las Cruces. A Sister, Roberta Kidwell of Enterprise, Kansas and a Brother, Roger of Marquette, Kansas, numerous nieces and ~ nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dean L. Davidson. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Sunday April 23, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday April 24, 2006 at 10 AM at Getz Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Wade Hedgecoke, James Husley, Rex Moore, John Mathis, John Gabble and Joe Fries. Honorary Pallbearers are: Gene Killam, Shorty Duffy, Art Gilcrease, Gary Steele, Earl Downing, Jerry Holmes, Hal Wetter and Warren Harkey.
