Our beloved Alfredo Vargas Jr, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 23, 2021 in his home with loved ones at his side.
Alfredo worked at the El Paso Natural Gas Company for 40 years and retired as Director of Purchasing in 1995 to stay home and care for his ailing wife Lucy and never left her side. Alfredo was an officer of the National Association of Purchasing Management of El Paso and a member of the 19th Rifle Company USMCR.
He was married to the love of his life; Lucy Vargas for 41 years who preceded him in death in 2004. He is survived by his children daughter Martha and husband Michael Verstreater, and son Michael Kelly; Grandchildren Larry and wife Bobbi Blanco, Sandra and husband Mike Tourtillott, Adam Kelly, Michelle and husband James Massad, Morris Tyson and Melodee Ryan. Great-grandchildren Jacqueline Tyson, Devon Tourtillott, Austin Tourtillott, Kendyl Kelly, Mason Ryan, Aubrey Massad and four great-great grandchildren; his sister Esperanza (Lancho) Del Toro and many nieces and nephews, his cousin Chuy and his wife Lorie Porras and his loving companion Irma Gonzalez.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfredo and Concepcion Vargas, brother, Federico Vargas, brother-law, Alfonso Del Toro, sister, Socorro Perez and daughter in-law, Dianne Kelly.
Alfredo had many long-time friends that he loved and he requested they be mentioned by name, they are Henry Morales, Irene Rangel, Ruben and Doris Guerra, Louie Arenas, Pipo Barragan, Nick Rangel, Dorothy Morales, Wilford Nickerson, Ray and Velia Marquez, Alfredo and Elvia Hernandez, Ron Hill, Eddie and Eva Torres, David and Wanda Helgeson, Nancy Brabec, Jerry Hopper, Dell Parker, Carmen Camacho and all of the Comadres of "La High".
Alfredo and his family want to express their great appreciation to Amazing Angels Home Care Assistance of El Paso, Hospice of El Paso and DaVita Central City Dialysis for their compassionate care.
A Mass will be held Friday, November 19th 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Cathedral , 1118 N. Mesa St., El Paso, TX. A private family burial will follow at the Memory Gardens of the Valley in Santa Teresa
In lieu of flowers, it was his wish that you please donate to the Alzheimers Association in honor of his loving wife Lucy Vargas.
