Alejandra Gonzales Escobedo

Alejandra Gonzales Escobedo died peacefully in her sleep. Due to her diminutive size, family and friends knew her by her endearing sobriquet, Chata. Born on November 13, 1948, she grew up in Mexican Canyon, a poor but culturally rich neighborhood in Miami, Arizona. Later in life, she resided on the fabled Camino Real near Lohman and Mesquite Street. Truly a creative artist, Alejandra's drawings and paintings were rendered in a rainbow of colors. Evocative of her mother Elena Escobedo artistry, Chata's stylized works consisted of vibrant pixelated landscapes. Aside from her many years of drawing and painting, Chata enjoyed singing traditional mariachi music and participated in ballet folklorico. Her favorite pastime was shopping and dining at Mexican restaurants. Alejandra positively touched the lives of all who knew her. Known for her genial goodness and generosity, everyone she knew was valued as a true friend. Alejandra is preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Elena Escobedo, her brother William Escobedo, and her sisters Connie Lopez and Alice Medina. She is survived by her brothers Ernest Escobedo, John Escobedo, and Larry Escobedo. They were inspired by her personal courage and will greatly miss her. Chata valued her steadfast friendships with Julia Saucedo, Cecilia Garcia, Carrie Lyon, Sophia Hughes and Nora Tapia. Services are scheduled beginning with a viewing at 12:30 pm and service at 1:00 pm Friday, March 18, 2022, at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Alejandra will be buried with her parents at the Veterans National Memorial Cemetery in Cave Creek, Arizona. She will forever be in our hearts. Arrangements by Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E.
