Agnes Jane Gilstrap Brown, 80, of Las Cruces, New Mexico died Monday, may 30, 2011. She passed away at Good Samaritan Village nursing home following a brief illness. She was born September 10, 1931 in Macon, Missouri to Jennie Gray Gilstrap and Clarence Skinner Gilstrap. Aggie graduated from Macon High School and attended St. Luke's School of Nursing in Kansas City, Missouri where she earned her R.N. degree. She married the love of her life, Harold Dale Brown on September 10, 1955 in Glasgow, Missouri. Her many years of nursing experience included pediatric intensive care, operating room and her most cherished job, working for Mesilla Valley Hospice. Dale and Aggie spent many wonderful years in Smithville, Missouri before moving to Las Cruces, NM. She was a member of the Eastern Stars and Chile Peppers RV club. Aggie loved to travel, paint and garden. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Brown baker (husband Dr. William T. Baker) of Mesilla Park, NM and Karen Beth Brown ( formerly of North Kansas City, MO and now residing in Las Cruces, NM) grandchildren Matthew Brown Baker, Katlyn Gray Baker and Zachary Thomas Baker, and beloved dog Zoe. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale Brown. A special thanks to all the staff at Good Samaritan Village for all your great care. Cremation has taken place and memorial services for Aggie will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 6:00 pm at Getz Funeral Home. Officiating will be Bonny Allen Rice chaplain for Mesilla Valley Hospice. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
