Adrienne Celeste Rechlicz, age 64, of Las Cruces, NM passed away early Saturday morning November 15, 2014 at Mountain View Regional Hospital. Celeste was born in Logan, Ohio to Thomas and Margaret Popoczy Johnson. She attended Cloverleaf Senior High School where she served on the Student Council. Later she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Marietta College in Marietta, OH. Celeste began her working career as a math and science teacher at North Canton Jr. High in N. Canton, OH and later at Morgan High School in McConnellsville, OH. After about 10 years, she left teaching to take a position as a chemist with PPG Industries and later DeGussa Industries, both in Barberton, Ohio. Later Celeste returned to teaching, this time as a computer software trainer with Entre, Teaching. Celeste met her husband of 22 years, Thomas Allen Rechlicz, while working for PPG Industries in Barberton, Ohio. They married on September 4, 1992 in Wadsworth, OH and moved to Lake Charles, LA when Tom was transferred by PPG. In 2003, Tom was again transferred by PPG, this time to Natrium, West Virginia where they settled in the nearby community of New Martinsville, WV. Retirement in 2009 brought them to their current home in Las Cruces. In addition to her husband, Celeste is survived by her sister, Carol (Steve) Laferre of Wadsworth, OH; her brother, Dave (Barbara) Johnson of Seville, OH; two nieces, Terri Lamn of Akron, OH and Kim Mannix of Wadsworth, OH; her cousin-sister Lynn (Dave) Kantner, of Columbus, Ohio; and many loving relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Celeste is preceded in death by her beloved Dachshund "children" Hans (19 years old), and just recently Pete and Dave (both 18 years old). Celeste was a very selfless, caring and generous person who showered not only her husband and Dachshunds with love, but went out of her way to help all those she met. She was a voracious reader and volunteered many hours at both the New Martinsville Public Library and the Thomas Branigan Library here in Las Cruces. Celeste enjoyed collecting Cats Meow Collectibles and Mata Ortiz pottery, and was a computer whiz who could find information on just about anything anyone wanted to know. She also took great delight in social time with friends playing Mah Jongg, both in New Martinsville and Las Cruces. She will be missed by everyone who was touched by her generosity and friendship. A Gathering of Friends to celebrate and remember her life will be held at Getz Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 4 - 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thomas Branigan Public Library of Las Cruces, NM. Donations may also be made in her memory to the ASPCA. PDF Printable Version
