Adna Faye Assel

November 15, 1926 — August 23, 2016

Adna died peacefully at home on August 23, 2016. Adna was born at home on the family farm in Artemas, Pa., November 15, 1926. She left there right after graduating from high school to live in Washington, D.C., where she began a 30 year career with Civil Service. That career ended with her retirement in 1985 at White Sands Missile Range, NM. Adna made her home in Las Cruces, NM from 1956 to 2007. In 2007 she moved to Phoenix, AZ to live with her daughter and son in law. After retiring from Civil Service she filled her time working for different entities. Her last job was coordinating schedules for Demos Ltd. Adna worked until she was 80 years old. She loved working, socializing, and shopping. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Pearl Jay, her brother Leo Jay, her husband Edward K. Assel Sr, her son Edward K. Assel Jr, and her life companion of 24 years Corneilus (Connie) Ryan. She is survived by her daughter Joyce (Wayne) Van Cleve, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, Connie's daughter's Sue (Bob) Langdon and Patricia Ryan, Connie's granddaughter Jennifer Langdon, her sisters Wanda Shipley, Mary Kathryn (John) Smith and her brother Alan Jay. To our beloved Mother, Sister, and Nana we love you and will miss you forever! Memorial services will be held 11 a.m., Friday September 9, 2016 at Getz Funeral Home 1410 E. Bowman Ave Las Cruces NM 88001. Inurnment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
