Adam William Hokit

November 15, 1968 — July 20, 2022

Adam William Hokit, age 53, passed peacefully in the arms of his wife with his dog Dakota on his lap on July 20, 2022 at Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, NM after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Adam was born on November 15, 1968 in Delano, CA to Tom Hokit and Donna Duke and was a 1986 graduate of McFarland High School. On July 4, 2009, he married his wife Stacey who was his partner in life for 13 years at the time of his death. Adam is survived by his wife Stacey, stepson Eric Plemmons of Mesilla Park, NM, stepdaughter Courtney (Drew) Thompson of Las Cruces, NM, daughters Sheyenne Hokit of MN and Acey Hokit of NM, 2 grandsons Wyatt Plemmons and Oliver Thompson, his parents Tom (Becky) Hokit of Shafter, CA, Donna (Tim) Duke of Silver City, NM, mother-in-law Lynne Reynolds of Las Cruces, NM, brother Steven (Kim) Hokit of Bakersfield, CA, brother-in-law Michael (Dana) Reynolds of Athens, AL, niece Kristin (Tyler) Adkins, nephews Steven (Kelsey) Hokit, Kevin, Cameron and Cade Reynolds, 2 great-nieces,1 great-nephew, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. In 1995, he began his career with The Industrial Company (TIC) starting as a Journeyman Helper. With the help of his stepfather Tim Duke, he graduated from the TIC Electrical Apprenticeship Program in four years. Over the years, he quickly climbed throughout the ranks from a Helper to Journeyman, onto Foreman, General Foreman, and lastly Supervisor. During his career as an Electrician, he performed duties on a variety of projects in multiple facilities ranging from petrochemical, mining facilities, to power plants. These projects took him across the country multiple times from Washington state to the Florida Keys. After 20 years, he left to work for a large TIC client in utilities, El Paso Electric, where he was the Electrical Supervisor at the Newman Power Plant outside of El Paso, TX for the past five years until the time of his death. Adam enjoyed spending his time outside maintaining his property, playing golf, watching football, NASCAR, and traveling with his wife during their annual anniversary vacations. Although Adam's life was cut unexpectedly short, he lived and enjoyed life to the fullest. Adam and his wife accomplished many bucket list activities including riding horses on the beach in South Padre Islands and in the mountains above Lake Tahoe, zip lining in the Colorado mountains and off the Rio Resort in Las Vegas, floating down a Montana river, and meeting his favorite NASCAR drivers prior to standing in the winners circle during the winning ceremony. Adam was loved and respected by many and will be deeply missed by those who knew him. At Adam's request, cremation has taken place and no funeral services will be held. In honor of his memory, family and friends will be having a private celebration of his life at a later time. Memorial plants may be sent to Getz Funeral Home.
