Theodore W. Layton, 77, of Las Cruces, died Thursday March 31, 2011. He was born Sept. 5, 1933 in Mattoon, ILL. to Herman and Elsie Peterson Layton. Ted was a veteran of the US Marine Corp where he served our country honorably as a Sergeant. He also retired after many years of faithful service as an Industrial Contracting Supervisor. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, cooking and fixing things. Theodore was a 58 year Gold Card Member with Local 1245 United Brother Hood of Carpenters and Joiners after he retired he still worked part-time at Sam's Club. Mr. Layton will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Cristina Layton of the family home; sons Teddy and Mikey Layton both of Las Cruces; daughters Kenna Ray of California and Mariana Valenzuela of Hillsboro, OR; sister Norma Key of Deming, NM; grandchildren Gabriel and Ariel, Amanda, Kloie, Pablo and Cristina. Ted is also survived by nieces and nephews of the Key and Bridges families. Also by his In-laws from, El Paso, TX, Chile and Denmark, Germany. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 am on Monday April 4, 2011 at Getz Funeral where his Memorial Service will follow at 11 am with Fr. Tom Smith officiating. A second service will be held at a later date in Mattoon, ILL. with his burial to follow at the Dodge Grove Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
