Roosevelt Africanus Boyer Jr.

July 2, 1934 — July 6, 2009

Roosevelt Africanus Boyer, Jr., was the eldest son of Roosevelt, Sr. and Mae Dona Boyer. Their first pride and joy was born to this couple on July 2, 1934 in El Paso, Texas. He enjoyed life to the fullest while growing up and having fun with his siblings in the fresh country air of Vado, New Mexico. He attended Dunbar Elementary School for the first eight years of his life after which he graduated from Washington High School in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He then enrolled in college at New Mexico State University and later decided to take different path in his life and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Upon completion of his 4 year stint in the U.S.A.F. he resumed his studies in Electrical Engineering. In the midst of pursuing his education, he began to keep company with a young lady by the name of Bobbie Jean Fuller. After a long courtship, the relationship led to a 49 year marriage. From this union two children were born, Roosevelt Boyer, III and Charlia Boyer. After completion of training he began working in various areas of the electronic industry. He later joined Hewlett Packard where he worked as an Electrical Engineer for over 25 years. He received many rewards for outstanding performance. Upon his retirement, he became a gentlemen farmer specializing in pecans and vegetables. He also served as the President of the Vado Water Association until his demise. He joined Valley Grove Baptist Church at an early age and was active in Sunday school, Baptist raining Union, Youth Choir and Vacation Bible School. He started to grow in his spiritual life and continued to do great works. The greatest joy in his life was serving his master which consisted of many spiritual capacities. He was a deacon at the Union Baptist church in Denver, CO in 1964. He served as a teacher for the S.S. youth class., youth advisor, B.T.U. director and numerous other positions. He served five years at Shiloh Baptist church in Albuquerque, N.M. and in 1984 he moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico where he united with Bethel Second Baptist church and he hit the ground running and never stopped. He worked for the master until he was called home for his reward. He leaves the following people to rejoice his memories: His wife Bobbie Jean Boyer (Fuller) of Vado, NM, son Roosevelt Africanus Boyer, III (Eddren) of West Hills, CA; daughter Charlia Rosette Boyer of Canoga Park, CA. Sisters: Shirley McGuire (John T.) of El Paso, TX; Thelma Aldridge (Rolland) of Lemon Grove, CA; Carolyn Harris (Tom) of Aurora, IL; Gladys Boyer Enninful of Lemon Grove, CA; Nancy Boyer (sister-in-law) of El Paso, TX. Brother: Laurence Carver Boyer (Debra) of Phoenix, AZ Grandchildren: Britainn Aldridge; Ravynn McCall; Taleah Boyer; Troi-Madisynn Boyer of West Hills, CA and Jordyn-Nia Barber of Canoga Park, CA. Nephews: Harold Milton (Kim); Sean Boyer (Lupe); Benjamin Aldridge; Brandon Boyer (Juanita); Preston Boyer. Nieces: Sonya Lynn Milton; Sheryl Jackson (Roderick); Alyson Bradford; Ardelia Aldridge; Kendra Bradford; Kimberly Harris; Tamara Harris; Ashley Boyer; Amanda Boyer. 4 grandnephews, 7 grandnieces, 1 great-grandnephew and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers: Robert Boyer, Bruce Boyer and sisters: Ardelia Milton, Norma Bradford. The pallbearers will be Chester Fuller, Robert Fuller, Michael Lopez, Mitchell Boyer, Johnny Holguin, Martin Lopez The honorary Pallbearers will be Thomas Fletcher, James Mintz, John T. McGuire, Sam Bone, Clifford Davis, Steven Pettes, Andrew Trotter, Jesse Almon, Jerry Warner, Charles Fielder, Irmo Negron, Grover Pettes, Ruben Hunt, Earl Greene, Albert Stephens, Alfred Lynch. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Thursday July 9, 2009 at Getz Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for Friday July 10, 2009 at 10:00am and will be held at Bethel Second Baptist Church on 405 East Hadley Avenue in Las Cruces, New Mexico 88001. Burial will follow at Ft.
