Ramon A. Costales

October 26, 1931 — March 15, 2007

Ramon A. Costales, "La Liebre" as he was affectionalty known, died Thursday, March, 15, 2007 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. He was born October 26, 1931 in Rincon, New Mexico to Samuel and Elvira Costales. Ramon had served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW Post 3242 and the American Legion Post 10. Ramon had retired from WSMR as a Diesel Mechanic. "La Liebre" was an accomplished musician playing with local bands, The Alligators, Happy Timers, and The Saints. Ramon is survived by his wife, Mary Costales; two sons, Raymond Costales and his wife Kathi of Las Cruces, NM; and Rudy Costales and his wife Delia also of Las Cruces, NM. Two daughters, Merlinda Cordero of Las Cruces and Yolanda Costales of Albuquerque, NM. Also surviving Ramon are two brothers, Rey Costales and his wife Mary Ann of Las Cruces, and Ruben Costalez and his wife Rose of North Carolina, and one sister Sheila Garcia. He has seven grandchildren, Joe Madrid III, Crystal Meraz, Richard Cordero III, Reymundo Gonzales, Fernando Gonzales, Amanda Costales and Ray Samuel Costales, and seven great grandchildren, Larissa Madrid, Alexsandra Meraz, Tasia Gonzales, Isaiah Gonzales, Angelica Evaro, Aiyanna Torres and Mariah Lopez. One son, Richard Costales, and two sisters, Esperanza Costales and Lilia Markel, preceded him in death. At Ramon's request cremation has taken place and the Rite of Committal and burial of his cremains will be at 10 AM on Monday, March 19, 2007 at Masonic Cemetery. Officiating will be Fr. Don Adamski. Following the services, a celebration of "La Liebre's" life will held at the VFW Post 3242, 2001 N. Mesquite Street, Las Cruces. PDF Printable Version
