Paul V. Gonzales

January 15, 1925 — February 9, 2008

Paul V. Gonzales "Dado" age 83 and a lifelong resident of Tortugas, NM died Saturday February 9, 2008 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. He was born January 15, 1925 in La Union, NM to Rosario and Antonia Gonzales. Mr. Gonzales was a World War II Veteran and worked for many years at White Sands Missile Range. After his retirement from White Sands, he was employed as a school bus driver. He enjoyed working on his cars and trucks during his spare time and working outside in his yard. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and sharing stories about his time in the Philippines during the war. Mr. Gonzales was preceded in death by his wife of over fifty years Lucy P. Gonzales. He is survived by his son, Armando Gonzales and wife Margaret of Canutillo, TX; daughters, Terry "Nona" P. Chacon of Tortugas, NM; Anna Ruspoli of Tortugas, NM; and Elva Guevara of El Paso, TX whom he also considered as a daughter. He is also survived by his brother, Martin Gonzales and wife Martha of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Nicole smith and husband Steve of Albuquerque, NM; Roxanna M. Chacon of Tortugas, NM; Clarissa Gonzales of Las Cruces, NM; William Paul Gonzales and wife Rhonda of El Paso, TX; and Kathleen Ruspoli of Tortugas, NM; great grandchildren Randy Hoover, William Andrew Gonzales, Izadora Smith, Joaquin Paul Gonzales, and Shyla Smith. Pallbearers will be Armando, William Paul, and, Anthony and David "Sito" Vielma, Steven L. Almanza, George Herrera, and Daniel Minjarez. A Visitation will be held Friday February 15, 2008 from 6-7 PM at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish in Tortugas, with a prayer vigil to follow at 7 PM also at the Church. The funeral mass will be given Saturday February 16, 2008 at 10 AM at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish. The rite of committal will follow at the Tortugas Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
