Melanie went home to be our Angel in the sky at Mountain View Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family, on July 30th, 2014. Melanie was born December 22nd, 1956 in Morocco Africa at the Nouasseur Air Force Base, to the late William S. Gilliss and Rosemary Ann Mathes Gilliss. Melanie graduated from Mayfield High School in 1975. She also attended NMSU. Melanie loved sports and participating in them throughout her school years. Melanie also had a love for her horses. Where she participated in Gymkhanas. She rode as often as possible with her dad, sister & great friends, the Bowden girls, as they grew up. Melanie a was fun, loving, free spirited and caring woman who brought a smile to everyone's face. Melanie was loved by so many an will truly be missed. Melanie married Carl Bunch in 1975 and had her first daughter, Anna Lee Rose Bunch January 12th, 1975 followed by Sharlotte R. Bunch , born September 22nd, 1978. Melanie later met up with a childhood friend Kenneth E. Evans an fell in love. They married September 10th, 1983 and went on to raise a loving family. Melanie loved to go for rides on the Harley with Kenny an to bike runs. Kenny and Melanie loved each other unconditionally and took wonderful trips and made great memories. Melanie had many things she enjoyed doing, camping, going to the lake and having BBQs in the back yard. Melanie worked at Montgomery Wards for many of years, moving on to different opportunities and later becoming a wonderful house wife & mother to their son they were blessed with on November 23rd, 1996 Daniel E. Evans. Melanie's parents were members of Eastern Star, where she was a Rainbow Girl. Melanie was also a member of Faternal Order of Eagles. Melanie is survived by her loving husband of 30 years Kenneth E. Evans, daughter Sharlotte R. Tellez (Eddie Tellez) & son Daniel E. Evans. Brothers Leo & Billy Gilliss, sister Marilyn Vaughan ( Lawarence, Dakotah & Haily Vaughan) grandchildren Kyle E. & Kylia A. Tellez as well as many nieces & nephews whom she loved & sister-in-laws & brother-in-laws. Melanie was proceeded in death by daughter Anna Lee & her father & mother. Services will be Saturday August 9th, 2014 at 10:00 am at Getz Funeral Home. A celebration of Melanie's life immediately following at 414 Monterey Dr. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in her name. PDF Printable Version
