Lois Anne O'Leary, after 83 years of service to our Lord, passed into eternal life on Wednesday morning, December 6, 2006 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. Lois was born March 6, 1923 in Paola, Kansas to John H. and Lydia L. Brandt. Lois was the epitome of the perfect army wife, moving 37 times in 33 years. A devoted mother, she was tireless in all endeavors including; volunteering repeatedly as Boy and Girl Scout leader, PTA representative, catechism teacher, yet she always arranged to be home to greet her children when they returned from school. After raising her children she redirected her boundless energy into community service to include 25 years volunteering with the American Red Cross, delivering books and tapes to homebound library patrons, organizing and monitoring the learn to swim program and staffing the blood pressure clinic. As a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church Lois, served in or chaired the following; the Church Prayer Chain, Eucharistic Ministry, and homebound visitation to hospitals, nursing homes and individual homes. Lois is survived by her husband of 61 years, Col. (Ret.) Robert J. O'Leary; three sons, Jeremiah P. O'Leary and his wife Nancy of Glen Ellen, Ill.; Col. (Ret.) Robert Charles O'Leary and his wife Patricia of Springfield, Missouri; Dennis John O'Leary and his wife Celeste of Fredericksburg, Virginia and son-in-law Col. (Ret.) Lee Alloway of Falls Church, Virginia. Two daughters, Jerry Louise Shriver and her husband George of Beckley, West Virginia; and Kelly O'Leary Burnett of Las Cruces, NM. She has one surviving brother, Paul Brandt of Woodland, Washington. Also surviving Lois are 15 grandchildren, Allison Nettles, Megan Taylor, Evan Shriver, Jennifer Black, Holly Alloway, Christine Bussman, Patrick O'Leary, Joshua O'Leary, Rebecca O'Leary, Zachary O'Leary, Heather Yeghnazar, Michael Burnett, Brendan O'Leary, Chuck O'Leary and Caitlin O'Leary, and three great grandchildren, Piper Black, Andrew Bussman and Mason Nettles. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael O'Leary and a daughter, Peggy Jo Alloway. At Lois' request cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place at 10 AM on Monday, December 11, 2006 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1327 N. Miranda. The Rite of Committal and burial of her cremains will be at 1:30 PM Monday at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the: Susan G.
